The Bruce Trail runs from Niagara Falls in Southern Ontarion almost 700 kilometers to Tobermory at the very tip of the Bruce Penisula. The section that runs through Bruce Peninsula National Park is especially beautiful.

Walking the trail was rougher than I'd expected, due to constant ups and downs. Roots, rocks, brush, missed blazes -- all made for slow going, and I barely made it past Halfway Dump, a mere 2.5 miles from Cyprus Lake, before turning back.

I gathered my gear from Cyprus Lake that first trip and headed back to the Ledges campsite. The Ledges are a thin strip of rock just off a long boulder beach. The area could support maybe eight to ten tents comfortably, and that night I met two other parties on the beach. Joe Overy & his girlfriend Jenny, Paul Murphy and I watched the sun set over Halfway Point.
