Paul Murphy

I ran into Paul Murphy several times during trips to the Bruce. We camped together on the Ledges that night, and the next year we arranged to meet and hiked all the way to High Dump.

At High Dump we ran into a bit of rain, and in the middle of the night heard a crashing in the woods behind the camp. The next morning, some campers said it was a bear. We never saw the bear, or scat, so I was somewhat skeptical.

I've run into the nicest people on the Bruce Trail and at the Ledges. There was the Asian woman Vicki, and her interesting friends. There was Ron and his daughter, who come back every May 24 (the Canadian equivalent of Memorial Day). There were so many people in fact, that in 1998 the Forest District decided to build new sites at High Dump and Storm Haven, and closed the sites at Loon Lake and Ledges.
