After an hour or so of hiking, the floodgates opened. We broke out the raingear, and kept along the path in a steady shower. Lunchtime saw us atop this might hanging beach on top of Grand Portal Point, 200' above Lake Superior. Thankfully, the rains stopped, and we heated water for tea and miso soup, accompanied by gouda cheese, jerky and crackers.

After lunch, a tour boat came motoring around the point. We stood on the bluff and waved to the tourists below, not sure who had the better vantage point. The rain had stopped, at least temporarily, and we moved across the beach, back on the trail again.
