Closer examination of the strata showed two unique layers of limestone, one very white, and the underlying layer showing definite marks of the previous sea bed, in waves created by a gently flow of water over the surface.

We walked out the point at the western end of the beach and watched the weather over Grand Island, before heading back to camp and a tasty dinner of portabello mushrooms and rigatoni with romato sauce. Walking off the beach we encountered a German couple out dayhiking. It was getting late, and they inquired if we were familiar with the loop trail heading back to the Chapel Beach trailhead. We gave them directions as best we could, but found it hard to understand the German's haevy accent.
