Glacial carving is no where more evident than in this magnificent bluff midway between the Potato Patch campground and Mosquito Beach. We started getting blase about the views after turning off into every little side trail. After Potato Patch, the trail dives steeply down to Miners Beach, and a mile long stretch of white sand.

The wind was fierce crossing the beach. Luckily the trail stayed a few feet above the beach proper, but the sand and wind still made the hiking a bit harder than a walk in the park. We paused for lunch at a picnic area near the beach, and fired up the stove for some well-deserved soup andhot beverages. The little Gaz stove struggled mightily against the wind, even protected by a windbreak of packs and other obstructions.
