We gathered firewood, as the Potato Patch campground had a fire ring. We cooked up a fine dinner of rice, curried chicken with peanuts, raisins, and coconut. and played with the fire. The downed wood in the area -- birch and oak twigs -- made a piss-poor fire, but it gave us a cheery light along with its hellish smoke.

After dinner, we ambled along the bluff and watched the sun go down behind Grand Island. It was the first sunset we'd seen the whole trip, and gave us a few moments of fiery glow before dropping into the clouds behind the island.
