On the trail the next day, we had an opportunity to view the coves and cliffs in the bright sunlight, contrasting to gray views we had had the days previous. The bluffs seemed to stretch for miles and miles and the water was clear. We saw the tour boat again, but the trail was surprisingly devoid of hikers. The whole trip we saw only a couple of dayhikers, and one solo fastpacker.

The forest floor was filled with beautiful blooms. We spotted a few False Solomon's Seal, the ever-popular Canada Violets and many ferns. For a stretch, a deer's browsing tracks were obvious along the trail. It was clear that he was following the path of least resistance to feed upon the numerous clumps of grass growing along the pathway.
