We stopped in Tuolumne Meadows to climb Lembert Dome. Even though our muscles were stiff from seven days on the trail, we couldn't resist an easy scramble to the top to see the famed Tuolumne Meadows from a different vantage point other than the car.

The hike is relatively easy. The trailhead is just off the main highway, and goes up a steep rocky hill behind the dome. After coming out of the trees, we headed out over the granite and to the top. Exhilarating!

Then it was time to leave the Valley at last. We piled into our cars-- Andrew and I in one, and George, Lori and Steve in the other. Our friends left us in Lee Vining. Andrew and I planned to spend the night there while the others went on to Reno and a flight back home.
