Andrew and I stayed overnight at an excellent roadside inn, the Tioga Lodge. We wandered down to Mono Lake at sunset, but were too late to get any good photos. Afterward, we settled for fried chicken in Lee Vining.

The last stop for Andrew and I was a second trip to Mono Lake to photograph the odd-shaped calcite formations known as "tufas" at sunrise. We encountered a number of serious photographers, all with the same goal in mind: to capture these odd images on film. I recall that it was extremely cold.
